The Post was started in 2001 out of a desire to see kids who were not connected within the social circles of the community get connected to a ministry that cared about them. Through research, it was evident the Goshen community had a segment of kids who were not involved in after-school programs, extra-curricular activities at school, or involved in a local church or youth group. Many of these non-connected kids were part of the “grunge, hardcore, skateboarding culture” and thus were shunned by traditional youth services simply because of the way they looked and acted. The mission of The Post is simple- To engage this group of kids by using their culture to connect them with our staff and volunteers who are able to speak truth into their lives. For many teens in the Goshen area, The Post is their “home.” It’s the place where they are accepted as they are and hear they matter to God and to us. It costs nothing for a kid to come to The Post and participate in the programming. Because of this, The Post relies on the community to support the work The Post is doing daily. |
